About Us

Our office provides comprehensive dermatological care to patients of all ages, specializing in all medical conditions of the skin.  We also provide complete surgical sevices for removal of benign and malignant lesions.

Dr. Rovner has been in private dermatological practice in Portland since 1988. He graduated from Duke University Summa cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa with majors in  chemistry and music in 1974. After attending Cornell University as a graduate student and teaching calculus and chemistry, he attended the Penn State University School of Medicine, graduating in 1981. After completing internships at Maine Medical Center in Portland and The Memorial. Hospital in Worcester, he returned to Penn State for his Dermatology training. He was certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 1986 and has been in solo practice uninterrupted since graduation.

Dr. Rovner is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and is a member of the New England Dermatological Society and the Maine Dermatological Society. He is Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of New England College of Medicine where he developed the Dermatology system for the medical students and has had this responsibility since 1990. He actively participates in resident training at Maine Medical Center both as a preceptor and regular lecturer. In 2001 he was voted Outstanding Specialist of the Year by the Department of Family Medicine.

 
Although he maintains an extremely busy professional schedule, Dr. Rovner is well rounded in other endeavors as well. Besides being an accomplished pianist, he holds a private pilot's license and is active in the arts both as a painter and stained glass  craftsman.
